Dancing Feet Academy of Dance has been established for 10 years and offers classes in ballet, tap and modern/jazz to children and adults of all ages and abilities. Classes are held in Braunton and pupils can participate in R.A.D. ballet exams (Royal Academy of Dance) and I.S.T.D. tap and modern exams (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing). Principal and Company Director, Nadine Morrish who was herself a professional dancer, believes it is important for pupils to have attainable goals whereby progress can be measured and therefore encourages pupils to take exams, although these are not compulsory. The R.A.D. and I.S.T.D. Graded Examinations in Dance are for younger children and are fun. The Vocational Graded Examinations are for children over the age of 12 who wish to study dance more seriously possibly with a view to pursuing a career either as a professional dance performer or teacher. These qualifications have been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England. Nadine is a fully qualified and registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance and is married with two children of her own. Over the years she has developed Dancing Feet Academy to it’s present size and status with the help of fellow teachers Karen Kenshole, Helena Farr and Gillian Hughes, and now in 2005 is pleased to welcome Royal Ballet School graduate Rachael Waldron to the ‘Team’. Over 200 pupils are currently enjoying lessons at Dancing Feet Academy. Children can start lessons as young as 2 years old. Classes are professionally structured and are taught in a caring and happy environment, building confidence and not forgetting the key word ‘FUN’. Adults – Why not find out your hidden L.D.T. (Latent Dancing Talent)? Classes in tap and modern/jazz for all ages and abilities with the emphasis on fitness and fun! The Teaching
Team at Dancing Feet Academy are all delighted to be passing on their
knowledge and experience to the children of North Devon. With this line
up of teachers the Academy’s Principal, Nadine Morrish, feels
that their experience in the profession enables them to advise students
and parents on the possibilities open to those who wish to turn a hobby
into a career.
